Pesto Making Day

I couldn't resist. My first crop of basil is ready. I planted lots of basil this year in order to make pesto sauce. The amount of pesto sauce I put up last year hardly lasted through the summer. I put in 10 plants a while ago and they are ready to harvest.

I spent the morning in the kitchen. The basil yielding 12 two ounce containers of pesto sauce. They are all sitting on the top shelf of freezer. Yum!

It's time to transplant my new basil seedlings into the garden for second harvest.

Chairs to repair

I've been busy recently, doing lots of projects. We got the garden in early and worked mightily to clear weeds and prepare the beds. With the recent rain, the plants are beginning to show themselves. Whew! Now I have to keep them growing.

I acquired a couple of chairs that were in need of repair.

The third chair is one we have had for 30 years. We call it the antique chair because it was obviously hand made- grooves from hand planing. It was grey and nasty having been outside for many years. I'm going to clean it up and see what it looks like. Then I'll weave a cane or splint seat for each of the chairs. Come back later and I'll have posted the results.
