Last Day of 2009

Today, the last day of the year I decided I had better get "to it" and prepare the loom for my next project - shawls.

I am using rayon boucle from Strings N Things
Measuring the warp
Tying on

Almost done with dressing the loom
Ready to weave
Whew. That always takes longer than I remember. This time it took even longer because I haven't woven since last June and am out of practice

Blizzard December 2009

Here's a quick video I put together last week. The kids had a blast 'kayaking' down the hill.

My first yarn skein

Here is the yarn from the rovings I spun and dyed.
Pretty cool! I'll get better, too. It's pretty lumpy. I think I'll knit a bag with it

Been a long time

I took a beginning spinning and dyeing class at SAFF last weekend. Here is my first attempt at both dyeing rovings and spinning it.

Spinning is so much fun!!!!

I'll show the the final yarn when it is done.

Back in the groove

Now that summer is waning and my chicks are back in school, I am beginning to return to my projects. Yesterday, I refinished the wood on two chairs from the yellow house. Next will be the seat weaving. I may do that later. I have 4 more chairs to refinish before the weather turns cold. The chemicals won't work below 50 degrees and besides the fumes are toxic indoors. I better get crackin'.
My SO is picking up some more peaches to freeze today. I have developed a passion for peach smoothies.

Canning tomato sauce

One of my favorite things about vegetable gardening is the food it yields.
Here's what I did today. 10 quarts of tomato sauce. Mmm. . . will be good this winter
